Jennifer was born in Savannah, Georgia and is the youngest of The Sisters Five. She grew up at Bay Creek Farms with her parents and learned about what that entailed first hand. She was enolled at Altamaha School and then Appling County High School. There, like Rena and Kathy before her, she was a superior vocalist and would, like them, receive the annual Music Cup for outstanding performance
Jennifer graduated from Columbus State University where she studied music, with content emphasis in vocal performance. After graduation from CSU, Jennifer worked in banking, health insurance administration and settled into industrial sales. She married Dan Akin in 2005 and the couple have two children and reside in Waverly Hall, Georgia where Dan was a city councilman for many years.
Jennifer is active in the area community and is a frequent soloist at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Columbus, Georgia and often provides vocal music at special occasions in peoples' lives. She enjoys participation in her busy children's activities. Jennifer shares a passion for antiques with Dan and they frequently turn up at country fairs, antique shows and even yard sales. They have furnished their rural home with mementoes from times gone by, some quite unique. They share enjoyment of history from a sociological perspective.
